Participation
Palm Beach SS strives to maintain a long and proud tradition of sporting activity. We understand that individual and team sports hold a lifetime’s worth of fun and fitness for our children. Participation is the key, an example being our Athletics program that begins in Prep classes in all disciplines including High Jump and Discus. Students are offered a twice weekly Athletics club and the results speak for themselves. At our Athletics carnivals we boast 100% involvement for all year levels and each year we send students to District, Regional, State and National level competitions.
Interschool sport
Palm Beach SS is a stalwart in the Gold Coast South Interschool Sports program. We compete in Rugby League, Netball, Touch Football, Surfing and any sport that we have the numbers and interest in, that is we play where our students needs lie. Students are offered weekly training and more importantly are schooled on rules and strategies to help them feel more comfortable and willing to “give it a go”. We win with cheer and lose gracefully with congratulations to the victors. Our Surfing program is unique catering for learners and the advanced with excellent success being achieved in Grommet (Junior) competitions.
Carnivals
Every year students participate in athletic, cross-country and swimming carnivals. Students compete for their house group against students their own age.
Surfing Program
For over 20 years Palm Beach State School students have been offered a unique surfing program held on our local beach break.
The program, held during the summer terms has students organised and learning within selected ability groups.
Students between the ages of 9 and 12 years are taught a range of
fundamental skills under the safe care of qualified surfing instructors.
Skills such as surf knowledge, surf survival, surf riding development
and competition strategies are but a few key areas of the program.
Students enjoy this learning experience and apply to a healthy
lifestyle.
